If all of the above checks out OK, use a short length of coax jumper cable to connect the radio to the antenna. But since you should replace the coax with RG6 quad shield as advised herein, it's a bit of a moot point. ![]() If you do not get the results above, then either the coax or one / both of the connectors is bad. If you have a helper with a radio or cordless phone intercom at the other end, simply stay on the roof with the meter connected and ask the to connect / disconnect the clip leads while you watch the meter. Disconnect the alligator clips and once again measure continuity it should show open (near infinite resistance) Measure continuity at the OTHER end of the coax it should show continuity (shorted) ![]() Use alligator clip leads to short the center conductor to the outer shield (shell) of the coax connector on one end Never mind the actual resistance: you're looking for continuity (shorted) or open (no connection): ![]() Test the installed coax with the multimeter in this way, NOT the antenna (simpler to do with two people, but can be done by one person).
